New ANZMapS Toolbox

Toolbox is a new area of the ANZMapS website offering information for cataloguing, care, training and other map-related requirements was suggested by those attending the ANZMapS conference in Adelaide, and has now been launched.  

The Toolbox area is new and under development, and is reliant on your input. Please make suggestions through the Yahoo list, or via the Email site feedback link on the ANZMapS website front page. ,

Cataloguing tools

(Links to sources for Place names, Cataloguing standards, scale/coordinates tools, Spatial data structure and standards)

 Cartography related courses

(Current Australian and New Zealand TAFE and university courses with significant cartography elements)

 Map suppliers

(Government mapping services, commercial publishers, and antiquarian map dealers)

 Collection care and management 

(Collection development polices, conservation of maps etc cataloguing List)

The ANZMapS Committee consider that there is scope for members who are vendors or publishers to be listed, so would welcome your approach, and we can list under a separate heading for Member Map vendors. Send suggestions to feedback.

2010 Conference report

The State Library of South Australia on North Terrace hosted the second conference of the now combined Australian and New Zealand map societies.  The conference broke new ground in a number of areas.  The topicality and importance of climate study saw the conference attract speakers and participants from a wide range of disciplines in Australia, New Zealand and abroad.
