Mapping the Pacific – Annual conference 2021
Due to the Covid pandemic this conference has been rescheduled to August 25 - 27, 2021.
Mapping the Pacific will examine the traditional wayfinding knowledge of the Pacific community, European exploration and the mapping of the Pacific from the early modern era through to the 19th century. The year 2020 is the 500th anniversary of Ferdinand Magellan’s entry into the Pacific and the 250th anniversary of James Cook’s extraordinary exploration and mapping of the Pacific. “
